In some regions, the shortage of pharmacy workers reaches more than 30%, and most of the staff is of pre—retirement age, Victoria Presnyakova, director of the Association of Independent Pharmacies and head of the Alliance of Pharmaceutical Associations, told Izvestia.

"The personnel situation is already critical. In some regions, the deficit reaches more than 30%, the share of pharmacists-technologists is about 15% of all pharmacists, and a significant part of the staff is of pre—retirement age," she said.

According to her, if urgent measures are not taken, further deterioration is expected in the next year or two: the mass exclusion of experienced specialists and the strengthening of the practice of replacing unskilled personnel.
