The expert named ways not to overpay during sales
On Tuesday, November 11, Black Friday will arrive — one of the most anticipated sales of the year. In order to make profitable purchases without regrets, it is important to prepare in advance and follow several key recommendations. Arina Samoilova, an expert on home economics at X5 Club, shared with Izvestia on October 31 the principles of a conscious approach to shopping on this day.
The very first step is making a shopping list. Samoilova advises you to determine in advance exactly what you need. These may be long-planned purchases or gifts for the holidays. By making a list, you can plan a budget and reduce the chance of purchasing items that will be left idle. The expert recommends that the list include not only the name of the products, but also their characteristics, for example, "an elongated white down jacket with a hood," and not just "jacket."
"Price monitoring is an important step. Before you go on sale, find out the standard price of the items on your list. This will help you assess the real benefits of discounts on the day of the sale. Many retailers announce the size of discounts in advance, so it would not be superfluous to study the offers in advance and choose a place to shop," Samoilova suggested.
Assessing your financial capabilities also plays a key role. It's easy to get caught up in impulsive purchases at sales, so it's important to set a budget in advance. By setting a limit on each product category, such as clothing or electronics, you can avoid unpleasant financial surprises.
Finally, it's important to be careful with impulse purchases. Before you put the product in the cart, ask yourself a few questions: do I need this product?, how often will I use it?, when will I need it? If the answers to these questions raise doubts, it may be better to cancel the purchase. Ideally, you should give yourself at least a day to think, however, given the speed of sales, the time to make a decision is usually limited.
On October 8, Igor Balynin, Associate Professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, told how you can save twice on mobile communications. According to him, it's worth starting with an analysis of connected services — often they turn out to be unnecessary for a long time, for which money continues to be written off. It is also important to check the relevance of the tariff plan: if the included minutes and SMS are not used, you should switch to a more suitable option.
