If any country departs from the moratorium on nuclear weapons, the Russian side will act accordingly. This was announced on October 30 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

"I want to recall the statements of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin, which has been repeated many times, that if someone departs from the moratorium, Russia will act accordingly," Peskov said at a briefing.

On October 29, US President Donald Trump issued a statement saying he had instructed the Pentagon to begin testing nuclear weapons "on an equal basis." According to the president, the process should begin "immediately." At the same time, earlier that day, Trump refused to answer a question from reporters about the reasons for the start of weapons testing.
