US trade duties against China have become a prerequisite for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

As Igor Baldin, a correspondent for Izvestia, reported on October 30, Trump himself initiated a meeting with the Chinese leader, and he is most interested in the issue of trade duties.

"Export duties against China are hitting the economy of America itself, which cannot do without Beijing's technologies, chips, rare earth metals, lithium, which is in every battery," he explained.

On October 30, it was reported that the meeting of the leaders of China and the United States had begun. The meeting of the two leaders is taking place in Busan, Republic of Korea. This is the first face-to-face meeting of the leaders since 2019.

During the meeting, Trump said that warm relations had been built between the two countries. The leaders of the United States and China have already reached agreement on many issues, and this meeting contributes to the further development of relations.

Xi Jinping also stated the readiness of China and the United States to help each other in development.
