The popular "beauty droppers," which are promoted as a way to boost health and slow down aging, can pose a serious threat. About this on October 30, "Gazeta.Ru" was told by Dmitry Karpenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Polyclinic Therapy at the Institute of Clinical Medicine at Pirogov University.

According to the specialist, intravenous administration of any substances — even vitamins — is not a harmless procedure and can lead to serious complications.

"In the case of intravenous administration, the risks of infection and the development of venous inflammation (thrombophlebitis at the injection site) and very serious complications such as bacterial endocarditis (inflammation of the heart valves) and sepsis (blood poisoning) increase. Do not forget that the intravenous route of administration most often carries the risks of severe allergic reactions, because the drug enters the bloodstream simultaneously and in large quantities," warned Karpenko.

The expert noted that the administration of vitamins or antioxidants in the absence of indications can cause hypervitaminosis, toxic reactions and impaired liver and kidney function.

Earlier, on October 24, plastic surgeon Sergey Karpovich, in an interview with Izvestia, said that injections of fillers are also dangerous. According to him, if the filler gets into the vessel, tissue necrosis may develop or even blindness may occur. The specialist emphasized that the risks can be minimized only by contacting professionals who are well versed in the anatomy and technique of drug administration.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
