Russia overtook the UK in the number of dollar billionaires in 2024

By the end of 2024, the number of dollar billionaires in the world increased by 5.6%, to 3,508 people, which was the largest increase since 2020. The combined wealth of billionaires has reached a record $13.4 trillion, an increase of 10.3% over the year. This was noted in the Billionaire Census 2025 report by the research company Altrata, published on October 29.

Russia took the fourth place in the number of billionaires, catching up with the UK: there are 128 dollar billionaires in the country with a total fortune of $457 billion. During the year, their number in Russia increased by 8.5%.

"North America remains the leader in the number of billionaires and their wealth — they account for 34.2% of all billionaires and 44% of their total wealth," Altrata noted.

There is also a high concentration of wealth: the 26 richest people in the world, each with more than $50 billion, account for 21% of the total wealth of all billionaires, which is 4% more than a year earlier.
