On October 29, the former commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Vyacheslav Popov, commented on the actions and potential consequences of the use of Poseidon.

"Poseidon exceeds all existing land— and sea—based strategic ballistic missiles in the world by the strength of its impact on the enemy, it has no analogues in the world, and the consequences of its use are terrifying," RIA Novosti quoted the admiral as saying.
