- Russian schoolchildren have become less dependent on their parents' academic expectations
The majority of modern schoolchildren study to get high results in exams (64%) and prove to themselves that they can do anything (57%), while only 16% are guided by their parents' expectations. This was reported on October 30 by Gazeta.Ru", having reviewed the results of the Umskul platform research.
"The motivation of schoolchildren increasingly comes from parents and more often from the goals and desire of the child to succeed on their own," the study notes.
The majority of respondents (57%) explain their motivation by the desire to prove to themselves that they are capable of achieving results, enroll in the desired university (52%) and build a promising future with a good job and salary (50%). Parental expectations no longer play a key role — 17% of ninth graders, 8% of tenth graders and 18% of eleventh graders are guided by them.
At the same time, parental pressure remains a factor that can discourage motivation in 24% of students, along with overload and burnout (72%), lack of progress (50%) and monotony (34%).
The majority of high school students (67%) started the school year with the intention of studying at full strength, but exams cause concern for 72% of respondents. 62% of schoolchildren consider high exam scores to be their top priority, since admission to the desired university depends on them.
The focus is shifting towards exam results: 43% of tenth graders and 59% of eleventh graders are confident that the USE scores are more important to them than the grades in the certificate. The majority of schoolchildren (56%) are ready to give up entertainment in order to prepare for exams, and 41% are ready to reduce their time on social networks.
This internal discipline is based on the desire to manage their future, enroll in a dream university and gain financial independence, which is a key feature of the new generation, even despite the fatigue that about a quarter of high school students feel at the beginning of the year.
Earlier, on October 10, it was reported that the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation had set a deadline for obtaining primary general education of no more than four years. It is specified that during this period, the total amount of training sessions should range from 2,966 to 3,305 academic hours, depending on the five-day or six-day academic week.
