The Interior Ministry reported on a new type of fraud through the verification of the authenticity of banknotes

To deceive people, fraudsters began stealing money under the pretext of verifying the authenticity of bills. This was announced on October 29 by the Department for the Organization of the fight against the illegal use of information and communication technologies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

"They explain the need to withdraw cash not only by "declaring funds," but also by "verifying the authenticity of bills." All this is allegedly on behalf of law enforcement agencies or "during a remote search," the agency's Telegram channel says.

The Interior Ministry warned that there is no concept of "remote search" in the legislation of the Russian Federation, and the withdrawal of money is possible only with the personal participation of the investigator, witnesses, as well as when processing the relevant documents.

"If you hear the words "declaring funds," "checking bills," or "remote search," just end the conversation and report the call to the police," the Interior Ministry recommended.
