The Ukrainian authorities intend to close the country's embassy in Havana this year, as well as lower the level of diplomatic relations with Cuba. This was announced on October 29 by the Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Sibiga.

"This year we decided to close our embassy in Havana and reduce the level of our diplomatic relations," the department's Telegram channel says.

Sibiga recalled that Ukraine voted against the resolution of the UN General Assembly that it is necessary to end the blockade of Cuba by the United States. This step is not sudden, given the increasingly close relations between Cuba and Russia, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stressed.

Prior to that, on October 11, the Cuban government categorically rejected the US accusations of Cuba's alleged involvement in the conflict in Ukraine, calling them false and slanderous. The press service of the country's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that Cuba is not involved in the conflict in Ukraine and does not send its military personnel to conflict zones.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on October 8 that the friendship between Russia and Cuba has been tested by time. It was clarified that this was her comment on the agreement between the governments of the Russian Federation and Cuba on military cooperation, which was ratified by the Federation Council.
