The tourism expert assessed the demand for Chinese destinations among Russians
Beijing is the most sought-after Chinese destination for travelers from Russia. Artem Kuzmin, Deputy Director for Aviation Market Development at Tutu Travel service, told about this on Wednesday, October 29.
"At the same time, the introduction of a visa-free regime for Russians has become an additional driver of interest in the direction. So, from September 15 to October 28, the demand for air tickets increased by 33% compared to the same period in 2024," he said in an interview with RT.
Kuzmin added that since the beginning of the year, Beijing, Harbin, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Sanya have become the most popular destinations in China among Russians.
"Most often, trips to China are chosen by millennials and representatives of generation X. The destination is slightly less popular among zoomers," he concluded.
On September 3, MTS Travel reported to Izvestia that China surpassed Egypt and the UAE in popularity among Russians last summer. According to experts, the tourist flow from Russia to China has increased by 75%. China came in second place after the traditionally sought-after Turkey in the ranking of popular destinations abroad.
The visa-free regime will also facilitate cross-border tourism and weekend trips. There are 20 checkpoints between Russia and China, clarifies 360.ru .
