- It became known that the AFU militants were sent to attack by the brigade commander in Lviv.
Mikhail Dzerin, commander of the 157th Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), was in Lviv drinking champagne while his subordinates participated in assault operations. This was reported by the RIA Novosti news agency, citing a source in the Russian law enforcement agencies.
"The brigade commander of the 157th brigade, Mikhail Fedorovich Dzerin, stupidly distributed his personnel right and left. At the same time, the battalions of the brigade participated in "meat assaults" in the DPR, Zaporizhia and Kharkiv regions, while the brigade commander calmly sipped champagne in Lviv," the source told the agency.
According to the source, the military unit was simultaneously fighting in several directions while the brigade commander was in a safe area. The actions of the brigade commander are characterized as incompetent leadership, which led to unjustified losses of personnel.
On October 29, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Guard Sergeant Igor Babenkov commanded a tank and was tasked with providing fire support to Russian units in the special military operation zone. The crew got to work using the tank's ability to fire at a distance of up to 10 km to the target. The coordinates of enemy targets were received in the process from aerial reconnaissance calculations. Soon, the AFU gunners returned fire on the tank, but Babenkov's competent leadership made it possible to protect the combat vehicle and crew from attacks. As a result, it was possible to eliminate an enemy stronghold, a machine-gun crew and a significant part of the AFU personnel.
