A thirteen-year-old male gray wolf named Tarzan died in the Moscow Zoo after a long illness. This was announced on October 29 by the press service of the institution on the Telegram channel.

"Tarzan the grey wolf has left us. He was not young and had been suffering from cancer for a long time. Our veterinarians did everything possible, but they could not save him," the zoo said in a statement.

The wolf was born in the spring of 2012 in the zoo of Veliky Ustyug and a year later was transported to Moscow, where he was settled with the female Rada. After a period of adaptation, the animals became a couple and went out for walks together. In the wild, gray wolves live for about 6-8 years, rarely reaching the age of 15.

Tapir Sue died in the Moscow Zoo on October 8. It is reported that the animal was 37 years old and in nature representatives of this species rarely live up to 24 years, and in zoos their life expectancy is about 25-30 years.
