Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has refused US President Donald Trump's request to ban Russian energy imports. This was reported on October 29 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.

"Sanae Takaichi told US President Donald Trump during a meeting in Tokyo that it would be difficult to ban the import of liquefied natural gas from Russia," the article says.

It is specified that this issue was raised during the bilateral meeting of the leaders. Takaichi tried to explain to Trump the importance of continuing energy purchases for the country.

On October 22, the US Treasury Department announced that the United States was imposing sanctions against Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil. It was noted that these companies are included in the sanctions list for activities in the Russian energy sector.

On the same day, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Moscow considers the new US restrictive measures against Russian oil companies to be counterproductive. At the same time, she stressed that the new sanctions would not create significant problems for Russia.
