On October 29, the lawyer of Russian basketball player Daniil Kasatkin, Adrien Billemaz, in an interview with Izvestia, announced the possibility of appealing the verdict on the athlete's extradition from France to the United States, if desired.

"We could potentially, if Mr. Kasatkin agrees, appeal this decision, this is a positive conclusion," Billemaz said.

According to him, after the expiration of the 10-day period allotted to Kasatkin for a possible appeal, the case will be referred to the Minister of Justice and the Prime Minister of France for a decision on his extradition to the United States. The lawyer added that after that, the proceedings will be sent to the American justice system.

A Paris court ordered Kasatkin's extradition to the United States earlier in the day.

The basketball player was detained at the request of the American side in July. According to lawyer Fryderyk Bello, the Russian is probably accused of extortion due to the use of his computer by intruders. On August 27, Kasatkin's request for release under judicial supervision was rejected.
