In the Trans-Baikal Territory, alcohol sales in the catering industry have been limited from 23:00 to 12:00. This was announced on October 29 on the website of the legislative assembly of the region.

"The restrictions apply to cafes, bars and buffets located in apartment buildings. The usual operating mode will remain for restaurants and nightclubs," the statement says.

Along with this, a ban was also imposed on the retail sale of alcohol near objects of religious significance.

It is specified that the draft law was adopted in two readings by the deputies of the regional parliament and comes into force on March 1, 2026.

In addition, the legislative Assembly published data according to which the increase in alcohol consumption in the Trans-Baikal Territory in 2024 was 10.1 liters per capita, in 2025 the figures increased to 10.9 liters. At the same time, the national average reached a minimum of 7.84 liters per person.

In June, the region proposed limiting the time of alcohol sales in bars, restaurants and shops. This proposal was put forward in connection with the increase in crime. It was noted that since the beginning of the current 2025, 7972 crimes have been registered in Transbaikalia. Of the 3,417 crimes completed, 1,121 were committed by persons under the influence of alcohol.
