Heute announced Austria's adoption of a new strategy to protect against UAVs
Austria has approved a new concept of protection against drones, showing its readiness for a potential emergency situation. The Heute newspaper writes about this on October 29.
"The new anti-drone strategy is aimed at further developing existing measures in line with the common European security architecture. The goal is to adapt existing and future protection measures to changing threat scenarios," the article says.
The foundation for the implementation of the new concept has already been laid. For example, an unmanned vehicle detection system was installed at Vienna-Schwacht Airport. In addition, a new unit was formed in the Austrian Armed Forces, which is part of the Directorate of Special Forces, the specialized drone protection center.
It clarifies that successful compliance with the strategy requires more accurate situational awareness and constant analysis of threat data. In addition, it is planned to hold a joint forum with the participation of the Ministries of Internal Affairs, Defense and Infrastructure.
Austrian Defense Minister Claudia Tanner announced on October 26 that she intends to turn the federal army into the most modern and combat-ready in the country's history. She also appealed to the citizens of Austria, whom she urged to remain united and not succumb to attempts to split society.
At the same time, former Austrian Foreign Minister and head of the St. Petersburg State University's G.O.R.K.L. Center Karin Kneissl noted on October 27 that the European Union (EU) was turning into a military alliance, which posed a threat to Austria's neutral status.
