Automatic purchase of bed linen was abolished in the reserved seat

Starting from September 1, when buying tickets for reserved cars online, passengers will need to choose the option of purchasing bed linen themselves. This was announced on October 29 by the Federal Passenger Company (FPC).

"Previously, when buying tickets for this type of carriage, a note of consent to the purchase of bed linen was automatically affixed. Starting from September 1, 2025, in order to comply with the requirements of Federal Law No. 69-FZ dated 04/07/2025 "On Amendments to Article 16 of the Law of the Russian Federation On Consumer Rights Protection," the service is provided subject to the passenger's self—marking," RIA Novosti reports.

When purchasing a ticket on the Russian Railways website or in the mobile application, passengers are notified about the possibility to add this option. An employee informs you about the purchase at the checkout.

It is clarified that the Russian Railways iOS app is marked "refuse bed linen" by default. To purchase the kit immediately upon purchase of the ticket, the passenger must uncheck the box. If this option is not selected, a message appears reminding you that using a mattress, pillow, and blanket without bed linen is not allowed according to sanitary regulations. The cost of a set of bedding is 232.60 rubles.

If necessary, passengers will be able to purchase underwear from the conductor for a fee on the way.
