- The expert compared the environment near Kupyansk with the situation in Debaltseve and Azovstal
Currently, about 10,000 Ukrainian troops are surrounded in the Red Army and Kupyansk directions. The current situation is reminiscent of the events at the Azovstal plant in Mariupol and Debaltseve. Andrey Koshkin, head of the Department of Political Analysis and Socio-Psychological Processes at Plekhanov Russian University of Economics, military expert, told Izvestia on October 29.
Then in Mariupol, the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, ordered the Ukrainian army to stop resisting and surrender. Now, nothing like this is happening, because the soldiers recruited during the mobilization are trapped.
"The Ukrainian Armed Forces are constantly afraid of all kinds of environments. But no matter how scared they were, they were still surrounded. This is probably due to the incompetence of both the military and political leadership. As for the surrender, it is already a matter of consequence and consequences. Why? Because the main thing is skill on the battlefield," said the military expert.
According to Koshkin, at the moment, the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces) are superior to the enemy in all respects due to the courage and competence of commanders and military personnel.
When it came to the possibility of evacuating ordinary mobilized Ukrainians, the expert expressed doubts, noting that in the current situation Zelensky was unlikely to admit his mistakes. He drew attention to the fact that the Ukrainian leader tells the whole world about his victories and is not ready to recognize the need for negotiations.
"Zelensky is unlikely to take anyone out of his entourage now. Yes, he's afraid of nationalists, but he's more concerned about his position, the situation, and trying to get help from Western states and the United States. That's what influences such a decision," Koshkin concluded.
On the same day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian Armed Forces fighters had stopped two attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to launch counterattacks in the Kupyansk area. Currently, measures are being taken to convince Ukrainian servicemen who find themselves surrounded to give up resistance and surrender. It is noted that a group of 12 people declared their readiness to lay down their arms in exchange for guarantees of life.
Prior to that, on October 27, four attempts by Ukrainian militants to break out of the encirclement on the right bank of the Oskol River through destroyed crossings near Petrovka were stopped in Kupyansk. The next day, it became known that in the Kupyansk area, units of the sixth army continued to compress the encirclement of the AFU group.
According to a report by Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation, to Russian President Vladimir Putin on October 26, a group of more than 10,000 Armed Forces personnel is now surrounded in the Kupyansk and Red Army directions. In order to minimize unnecessary casualties, the Russian leader called for all measures to be taken so that Ukrainians would surrender, as the Russian army has historically always treated a defeated enemy with mercy.
