Wagenknecht declared Merz's lack of democratic legitimacy
Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the German Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice party, called Friedrich Merz the first German chancellor to come to power without democratic legitimacy. She stated this on October 29 in a video posted on her official YouTube channel.
"There is a lot of evidence that he is the first chancellor of the Federal Republic to come to power without democratic legitimacy, and therefore we can get rid of him relatively quickly," Wagenknecht said.
She also stressed that during his six months in power, Merz made "so many mistakes that I don't even want to imagine what else he can do in the remaining three and a half years."
On October 12, the Bild newspaper published the results of a survey, according to which the majority of Germans surveyed — 62% — are dissatisfied with Merz's work. The data shows that the Alternative for Germany (AfD) opposition party remains the most popular party in the country (26%), while Merz's CDU party shows a result of 24%.
