At school No. 11 in the city of Azov, Rostov region, signs with inscriptions appeared on the tables in the dining room: "The poor" and "SVO", which provoked outrage on social networks and among public figures. The governor of the region called the incident gross discrimination, and the director of the educational institution was reprimanded. All the details are in the Izvestia article.

What happened at school

Photos from the school cafeteria with signs reading "Poor" and "SVO" spread on social media on October 18. The pictures showed that there were different dishes on different tables. Netizens identified the educational institution as School No. 11 in Azov and expressed outrage at this separation of children, noting that this could provoke harassment.

Ekaterina Mizulina, head of the Safe Internet League, called the situation an obvious discrimination.

"It's hard to imagine how uncomfortable the guys are and what kind of harassment this can provoke," she wrote on her Telegram channel.

The school itself stated that they "do not have a division by tables," offering to clarify the information with the director, reported 161.ru .

How did the authorities react

The governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, harshly condemned the incident, calling the placement of the signs "obvious and gross discrimination." In his Telegram channel, he stressed that such actions not only humiliate the dignity of children, but also provoke harassment in the school environment. According to him, the director of the educational institution was reprimanded.

The Ministry of Education of the region explained that the signs were installed by a catering employee once and were intended solely for the convenience of serving portions. The department held meetings with food organizers, reminding them of the inadmissibility of such situations and the need for strict adherence to food quality standards. The Prosecutor's Office has initiated an investigation into this fact.

At the same time, the administration of Azov reported after the incident that the cost of meals for children from low-income families was increasing. According to Elena Miroshnichenko, head of the Department of Education of the city of Azov, the cost of meals for students in grades 5-11 from this preferential category will be equal to the cost of lunch for children from large families and families of participants in the special operation.

What measures have been taken?

According to Governor Slyusar, the school's territory should be a territory of respect and equal opportunities, where all children, without exception, receive delicious food without any divisions based on social or property status. He instructed his deputy Andrey Fateev to take over the organization of meals in schools in the region with the involvement of the parent community.

The Azov Department of Education conducted additional briefings with food organizers, emphasizing the inadmissibility of such labeling. The Ministry of Education of the region assured that such cases will not happen again, and all children will receive equal and respectful treatment regardless of the social status of their families.
