Most often in the third quarter of this year, in the segment of used cars, Russians wanted to purchase Lada Granta on credit, and on average the requested amount for used cars was 1.18 million rubles. This was reported to Izvestia on September 29 by Avito Auto experts, who studied the data on applications sent through the platform.

Most often in July and September, people wanted to purchase Lada, Kia, Toyota, Hyundai and Volkswagen cars on credit on the platform (10.7% of all applications). The most popular models among borrowers were Lada Granta (3.2% share), Hyundai Solaris, Toyota Camry, Kia Rio and Lada Priora. In addition, the top ten most in demand are Ford Focus, Volkswagen Polo, Lada Vesta, Skoda Octavia, Kia Sportage.

The Russians planned to receive the largest loan when buying a Toyota Land Cruiser (2.95 million rubles), Geely Monjaro (2.49 million rubles) and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (2.46 million rubles). The minimum loan amounts appeared in applications for the purchase of Lada 2114 Samara (369 thousand rubles), Hyundai Accent (410 thousand rubles) and Chery Tiggo (T11) (411 thousand rubles). In total, applications with an amount of less than 500 thousand rubles were submitted for 16 models. Opel Corsa, Lada Kalina, Chevrolet Lacetti, Datsun on-DO, Lada Priora, Hyundai Getz and Peugeot 308 were also among them.

The shortest period was indicated in the loan application for Daewoo (5.6 years), Datsun (6 years), Lifan (6.2 years), Lada (6.3 years) and Citroen (6.3 years) car brands. When buying Lada 2114 Samara, it was planned to repay the borrowed funds in 5.7 years. A slightly longer planned loan term was indicated by potential buyers Datsun on-DO (5.9 years), Lada Priora (6 years), as well as LADA Kalina, Nissan Almera, Chevrolet Lacetti and Chery Tiggo (T11) (6.1 years each). Buyers of Opel Corsa, Mitsubishi Lancer and Peugeot 308 applied for a period of 6.2 years.

According to analysts, in the third quarter of 2025, there was a steady increase in interest in lending to used cars: compared to the second quarter, the number of applications increased by 8.6%. September turned out to be particularly effective: the growth was 8.5% compared to August and 19% compared to July. This may be due to expected changes on the part of the customs regulator, as well as a gradual reduction in the key rate, experts explained.

Temporary balance: the used car market has stabilized

Since the beginning of the year, more than 4.4 million used cars have been sold in Russia.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Chinese premium cars have almost disappeared from alternative imports to the Russian Federation. In the first nine months of this year, the supply of new cars worth over 7 million rubles decreased by 40% in the alternative import segment, although it remains stable among the brands officially represented on the Russian market. If in the case of the latter, manufacturers from China account for the entire supply, then in terms of alternative imports, their share has fallen from 23% to 2% since the beginning of the year.
