China has excluded electrified cars from the list of strategic industries in the country's development plan for 2026-2030. This segment of the automotive industry is absent from China's strategy for the first time in more than a decade due to problems with oversupply in the market, Reuters reported on October 28.

New energy source (NEV) vehicles, which include electric vehicles, plug-in hybrids and fuel cell vehicles, were included in the list of strategic developing industries in China in the previous three five-year plans aimed at increasing the competitiveness of the industry. The government provided billions of dollars in subsidies to manufacturers, which helped China take a leading position in the global electric vehicle market.

In the new plan, priority is given to quantum technologies, bio-production, hydrogen energy and nuclear fusion as new drivers of economic growth. The Chinese authorities plan to publish the full five-year plan in March next year.

In recent years, China has become the world's largest automotive market. However, at the same time, he faced an oversupply of capacity, a protracted "price war" and excessive competition, the newspaper notes.

The day before, it was reported that Avatr cars could be assembled in Russia in 2026. Currently, the brand's lineup in Russia is represented by one Avatr 11 electric crossover, which will be joined by the Avatr 12 fastback this year.
