Magnetic storms in November 2025: daily forecast, human impact
The geomagnetic situation in the last month of autumn promises to be relatively calm. According to forecasts, no serious disturbances of the magnetosphere are expected, however, the situation may change in early November due to the appearance of a new coronal hole and an increase in geomagnetic pulses. Izvestia publishes a forecast of magnetic storms for November 2025.
Magnetic storms in November 2025 — forecast
According to the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the IKI and the ISSF, strong magnetic storms are not expected in November. Most of the month will be spent in a calm "green" zone. Magnetospheric disturbances are predicted on November 2, 7 and 16.
But the end of autumn promises to be difficult for weather—dependent people - a magnetic storm is possible from November 25 to November 26. At the same time, it may be accompanied by disturbances in the magnetosphere, which will persist on November 24 and 27.
According to the website of the Solar activity laboratory, an increase in geomagnetic indices was recorded at the end of October. It is noted that a large coronal hole has been observed on the Earth-facing side of the Sun for several days, which can affect the magnetosphere.
Nevertheless, the researchers emphasize that globally the Sun continues to be in a state of low activity. In the future, the geomagnetic situation will depend on whether energy remains in the epicenters of powerful explosions, which are currently located on the far side of the star. These areas will become visible again on November 1.
"When these centers went to the other side of the Sun 10 days ago, it was expected that only the cooled embers would return to Earth, but after the powerful flares that occurred (at the end of October — Ed.), anything can be expected," the laboratory said in a statement.
The Ru-Meteo portal, in turn, provides other data. According to the forecast, a magnetic storm may begin on Earth as early as November 7 and last until November 9. Disturbances are also expected on November 15.
The effect of magnetic storms on humans
The scientific community has not come to a consensus on the effects of magnetic storms on the human body. Despite this, many people report feeling worse during periods of increased geomagnetic activity. The most common symptoms are:
- headache,
- increased fatigue,
- dizziness,
- increased blood pressure,
- exacerbation of chronic diseases,
- sleep disorders,
- increased anxiety.
According to Alexander Kalyuzhin, senior lecturer at the Department of Fundamental Medical Sciences at the State University of Education, magnetic storms do not pose a danger to most people.
"For most people, geomagnetic disturbances are harmless and act as a mild stress factor. Scientific data is heterogeneous: there is no convincing direct connection between the storm and deterioration of health in most people, but individual reactions vary," he told Izvestia.
The expert noted that geomagnetic disturbances can temporarily shift the balance of the autonomic nervous system, disrupt circadian rhythms, and indirectly affect vascular tone through baroreflections— natural mechanisms for regulating blood pressure. Special care should be taken during magnetic storms by people with cardiovascular diseases (hypertension, coronary artery disease, etc.), as well as people with weakened baroreflexia, the elderly, and pregnant women in the early stages.
What to do during magnetic storms:
- observe a 7-9-hour sleep schedule;
- maintain moderate physical activity;
- control the body's water balance;
- limit alcohol and caffeine intake;
- Include vegetables, fish, and whole grains in your diet.;
- eat foods rich in potassium and magnesium;
- monitor blood pressure and pulse.
Earlier, the European Space Agency warned about the expansion of the so-called South Atlantic Anomaly, a weak area of the Earth's magnetic field.
