Bloomberg reported on the US search for new levers of pressure on Russia

The administration of US President Donald Trump has announced that new ways of putting pressure on Russia are being sought. This was reported on October 28 by Bloomberg.

"US President Donald Trump holds all the cards. Sanctions against Russian oil are just one card he is playing. There are many more of them. With Ratcliffe, we discussed many other options that the president has at his disposal, and he will use them as needed," the agency quoted Matthew Whitaker, the US Permanent Representative to NATO.

The publication reports that last week the US Treasury Department added Rosneft and Lukoil to the sanctions list of state-owned oil giants. This is the first major financial measure against Russia since Trump took office.

"We have imposed these sanctions. We plan to enforce them," Whitaker said in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

Kirill Dmitriev, the Special Representative of the President of Russia, announced a meeting of US congressmen with State Duma deputies.

Earlier, on October 27, the representative of the European Commission (EC), Anna-Kaisa Itkonen, said at a briefing that US sanctions against the Russian energy sector could have a negative impact on a number of European Union (EU) countries. According to her, at the moment, the EU does not see the negative impact of these restrictions.
