Ideal crystal structures have been grown in outer space for the first time. This was announced on October 28 by the Roscosmos press service.

It is noted that as part of the Ekran-M experiment, cosmonauts Sergey Ryzhikov and Alexey Zubritsky replaced cassettes in equipment for growing semiconductors.

"The Ekran-M experiment is necessary to create ultrapure films of gallium arsenide, a key material for the production of solar cells and in microelectronics," Roscosmos said in a statement on the agency's Telegram channel.
