- The Russian Security Council declared Europe's unwillingness to engage in dialogue with the Russian Federation
The European elites are not yet ready to restore a normal dialogue with Russia. This was stated on October 28 by Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Alexei Shevtsov at the III Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
"The second important point is the willingness to speak on equal terms and respect each other's interests, which is mandatory for a normal dialogue. Unfortunately, the European elites are not ready for this yet, preferring to spend billions on the Ukrainian project, destroying their own economy, but at the same time not forgetting to make loud statements on social networks and intensify confrontation with Russia," Shevtsov said.
The theses of his speech were distributed by the press service of the office of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
According to Shevtsov, "we will have to streamline the security architecture in Eurasia, build either some kind of common system with our Western neighbors, or a clear and predictable mechanism for interaction."
He called the effective mechanisms of cooperation between the CIS and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). On the contrary, the attempt by Western countries to impose their human rights standards on the world "east of Vienna" has discredited the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), including as a dialogue mechanism.
"In Eurasian systems, traditional values are the basic resource that forms the stability and integrity of societies and states in the region. They create a socio-cultural foundation that helps to counter internal conflicts, radicalization, ethnic and religious contradictions, which is especially important for the multi—ethnic and multi-religious regions of Eurasia," Shevtsov stressed.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on October 28 that the future architecture of European security should include Russia, since it is unrealistic to deny the geographical reality of the country's existence. He also expressed hope for the return of dialogue to discuss the forms of coexistence of states in Europe, noting the need to create consensus.
