The expert named the date of New Year's matinees in kindergartens

New Year's matinees in kindergartens usually take place in the last week of December. Lyudmila Volobuyeva, head of the Department of Preschool Pedagogy at the Faculty of Preschool Pedagogy and Psychology at Moscow State University, told Izvestia about this.

In the winter of 2025, New Year's holidays in kindergartens will begin to be celebrated on December 22.

"As a rule, New Year's matinees are held in the last week of December (or may start earlier) — from about December 22 (or from December 15) to December 26 in 2025. They can be held on different working days of the week, depending on the number of groups in kindergarten," explained Volobuyeva.

Most of the holidays in kindergartens start at 9:00-12:00, but sometimes matinees take place in the afternoon — from about 16:00 to 17:30.

According to the expert, the opening hours of kindergartens during the New Year holidays are the same as those of others.

"Kindergartens have a regular work schedule, as established by the charter. Public holidays are non—working days according to the production calendar. Holidays in kindergartens are not provided," Volobuyeva said.
