The Rostov-on-Don garrison military sentenced Mirza Mirzaev, the former acting head of the Rosgvardiya Material Support Department, to nine years in a penal colony, finding him guilty of accepting a particularly large bribe. This was announced on October 28 by the press service of the Main Military Prosecutor's Office on its website.
"The Rostov-on-Don garrison Military Court has handed down a verdict in a criminal case against the former acting head of the material Support Department of the Federal Service of the National Guard of the Russian Federation, Reserve Major General Mirza Mirzaev. <...> [The court] sentenced Mirzaev to nine years in prison in a high-security penal colony," — it is specified in the message.
According to investigators, from August 2023 to July 2024, Mirzaev extorted a bribe from the contractor of a state contract for the supply of prefabricated buildings for the needs of the Russian Guard. The general allegedly threatened the company with obstacles in the acceptance and payment of work, as well as entry into the register of unscrupulous suppliers. The total amount of funds received exceeded 140 million rubles.
As specified by "Gazeta.In addition to serving time in a penal colony, the Major General will also not be able to hold certain positions in the civil service related to the performance of organizational and administrative functions for five years. The court also recovered the full amount of the bribe from Mirzaev.
"Criminal cases against intermediaries are under consideration in court, the bribe giver has been released from criminal liability," the military prosecutor's office concluded.
On October 24, it was reported that as part of the investigation into the construction of defensive structures in the Kursk region, the head of the Siemi company, Vitaly Singovsky, testified that the former deputy of the ex-governor of the region, Alexei Dedov, had received a bribe of 6 million rubles.
According to the state prosecutor, these funds were transferred to Dedov for providing commercial organizations with access to state and municipal contracts in the region. During Singovsky's cooperation with the investigation, it also became clear that Dedov, ex-deputy of the Kursk Regional Duma Maxim Vasiliev and deputy of the People's Council of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Tatyana Bondarenko may be involved in embezzlement of budget funds.
