- The State Duma reacted to Hungary's desire to create an alliance of skeptics on Ukraine
Hungary's desire to create an alliance in the European Union (EU) that is skeptical of Ukraine is an important task. Alexey Chepa, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, expressed this opinion on Tuesday, October 28.
"I believe that this alliance is being created in order to form certain alternative opinions on a number of issues related to Ukraine. This is extremely important. Because today the Western press is trying to do everything to show the unity of opinion of all the leaders of all countries on the Ukrainian case," Chepa responded in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
According to the parliamentarian, the creation of such an alliance is a feasible task.
Earlier in the day, Politico newspaper wrote, with reference to Balazs Orban, director of the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, that Hungary intends to form a joint unified position with the Czech Republic and Slovakia, skeptical about the policy of supporting Ukraine, RT reports.
According to him, Budapest expects to coordinate actions with the leaders of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, Andrei Babis and Robert Fico, before key meetings of the European Council. kp.ru .
According to the newspaper, Hungary is also seeking to strengthen ties in the European Parliament (EP) through its Fidesz party, which is part of the far-right Patriots for Europe group. Budapest is considering the possibility of expanding cooperation with other Eurosceptic associations.
Earlier, on October 27, Orban said that after the conflict was over, he would not like to see Ukraine become a member of the European Union. He stressed that EU countries should develop a strategic partnership with Kiev, not full membership, so as "not to aggravate internal disagreements and weaken the union's economy."
