- More than 10 thousand people took part in the sports festival from the League of Heroes in Dagestan
On October 25 and 26, the first steeplechase race in the history of Dagestan, the Race of Heroes, took place in the territory of the Erpeli Ecopark in the Buinaksky district. The event was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Folk Arts of the Republic of Dagestan and the League of Heroes.
More than 10,000 people, residents of Dagestan and guests of the republic, who competed on the Race of Heroes track, trail distances, arm wrestling tournament and other sports events, became participants and visitors of the most massive sports festival.
"We are very pleased that we have managed to complete the sports season in the most beautiful region of the country. We know that the Republic of Dagestan has been waiting for this start and we are glad that several thousand people have decided to join our sports festival. We know that the republic has been waiting for this launch and we are glad to have the opportunity to hold an event for local residents and guests of the republic. Dagestan is a very athletic land, and the track that we designed specifically for this republic vividly reflects the national flavor — strong and truly heroic," said Denis Annikov, director of the Heroes Race.
"I would like to thank the Ministry of Tourism and Folk Arts, which entrusted us with hosting an event of this level. We hope for a long and fruitful cooperation with the republic and are already discussing holding other sports events here," said Annikov.
The participants conquered the 7.5 km long Race of Heroes track, which included 28 obstacles: handlebars of varying difficulty, water obstacles, vertical fences and many others. And the little visitors of the festival were able to try their hand at a special children's obstacle course. Armatura armwrestling tournament was held separately, which attracted the most decorated representatives of this sport from all over the country, including Roman Malykh, the world record holder in kettlebell press, and Grigory Ponomarev, the former MMA champion. Magomedveli Khalikov, a native of Dagestan and world champion in arm wrestling, became the winner of the tournament.
The second day of the sports festival turned out to be no less intense — residents and guests of the republic were able to start four trail routes — 1, 5, 10 and 20 km. On the track, which ran through the picturesque forest and mountain landscapes of the Republic of Dagestan, athletes overcame many natural obstacles — ascents, descents, forest trails and forks. All the routes were specially designed taking into account the bizarre landscape of Dagestan, and the morning mountain fog added an additional entourage, thus becoming another natural obstacle for the participants of the races. Magomed Aligadzhiev in the men's competition and Alexandra Pelageikina in the women's competition became the winners in the overall standings at a distance of 20 km.
During the event, many famous athletes from the Republic of Dagestan became participants and guests of honor - Gadzhimurad Gadjibatyrov, bronze medalist of the World Freestyle Wrestling Championship, Abdullah Dayakaev, world Muay Thai champion, Abduragim Magomedov, world wrestling champion, Taimyr Salavutdinov, silver medalist of the Russian Freestyle Wrestling Championship, champion of the North Caucasus Federal District in mixed martial arts, Rashid Satiev, as well as the world boxing champion among military personnel, Saadat Dalgatova.
Other activities were also available for the guests of the event: orienteering, archery, chasing a ball, tubing, assembling and disassembling a machine gun, laser tag and an exhibition of historical weapons. It was also possible to watch performances of ethnic musical groups of Dagestan and taste dishes of traditional local cuisine.
