Matvienko called respect for traditions and culture a sign of a strong state.
In times of significant change, a sign of a strong, self-sufficient and independent state is respect and preservation of spiritual and moral values, cultures and traditions. This was stated on October 28 by Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko during the international forum "Women for the Preservation of Traditions."
"The Forum is taking place at such a special time. Today, both Russia and the whole world are experiencing such a profound, comprehensive transformation. <...> And in this "era of change", the most important sign of a strong, self-sufficient, truly sovereign state remains respect, preservation of spiritual and moral values, cultures and traditions of different peoples," Matvienko said.
She expressed confidence that women can play a major role in creating a global ecosystem of traditional values. Russia has been consistently working in this direction for several years.
"At the initiative of the Russian Federation, an International competition for Women's Entrepreneurial Projects in APEC is regularly held, which determines the winners in the nomination "The best project for the preservation of the culture of indigenous peoples, remote and rural areas," said the Chairman of the Federation Council.
The Forum is taking place in Moscow on October 28-29 at the Petrovsky Travel Palace. The organizers are the Council of the Eurasian Women's Forum and the National Center for Historical Memory under the President of the Russian Federation.
On October 8, Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, noted at the II international symposium "Creating the Future" that culture should not be considered as a political tool of soft power, as Western countries do. According to her, they have already realized the disappointing results of such a model. Culture is oxygen and air that cannot be seen, but without which life is impossible, the diplomat pointed out.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on April 16 that more and more people in various countries of the world see Russia as a guardian and defender of traditional values. He added that respect for the identity of the peoples of the world and their right to development is the key to the formation of a just world, as well as the development of more favorable conditions for Russia.
