Sending money to Ukraine was considered ineffective in Germany
Germany can no longer continue to send money to Ukraine, as it is burning up without any visible peace. Bernd Baumann, a member of the Alternative for Germany party, told Izvestia on October 28.
"We cannot continue to send billions after billions to Ukraine. <...> I do not know how many rubles, euros and dollars have been burned, but we have not made any progress," he said.
According to Baumann, it is possible to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict only if Russia's security interests are taken into account.
He said that Germany needs a new security architecture, but for this it is necessary to establish contacts with Russia.
On October 21, European Commissioner for Economy Valdis Dombrovskis announced at a session of the European Parliament (EP) in Strasbourg that the European Union (EU) has spent almost €178 billion on assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the military conflict. Of these, 62.3 billion euros were allocated for military support.
On October 28, Politico newspaper, citing an unnamed European official, called the transfer of a loan to Kiev based on Russian assets a matter of time.
