The German Economy Minister announced the lifting of US sanctions on German assets of Rosneft

The United States has officially excluded the German assets of Russian Rosneft from sanctions, recognizing their complete separation from the parent company. This was reported on October 28 by the Reuters news agency, citing the words of German Economy Minister Ekaterina Reiche.

"The United States has issued a Letter of Consolation, acknowledging that Rosneft's activities in Germany were completely separate from its Russian parent company," Reiche said.

The decision was made after Berlin appealed to the administration of President Donald Trump to clarify the application of sanctions to German refineries, which have been under state control since 2022. The key asset is the PCK refinery in Schwedt, which provides more than 12% of Germany's fuel refining capacity and is a major employer in Brandenburg. Germany insisted that the facilities were vital to national energy security and completely separate from Russian control.
