Zenit football player told the details of his attempted abduction in St. Petersburg
Zenit football player Andrei Mostovoy did not call anyone and create panic after the attackers attempted to kidnap him in St. Petersburg the day before. In a conversation with Izvestia on October 28, the athlete shared that he could not have imagined that such an incident could happen to him.
He noted that he could not disclose all the details at the moment because an investigation was underway.
"It was late in the evening. Everything was happening very quickly, I didn't really have time to figure out what was going on. Then I realized that everything was pretty serious. He seemed to behave normally, didn't raise a panic, didn't call everyone. I waited until morning," Mostovoy said.
He added that after the attack by unknown persons, he certainly experienced shock and was in touch only with a friend during the night.
"It was hard to fall asleep, I didn't sleep much. Again, I didn't tell anyone anything, I decided it was better to wait for such a pause, neither my family nor anyone knew about it. Only then, the next morning, I contacted our security people from the club. <...> I was waiting for the club's management to tell me how to proceed," said the footballer.
After the news about the incident appeared in the media, Mostovoy received many calls and text messages from friends and teammates with words of support. The athlete stressed that he had listened to all the messages, but did not respond in order not to interfere with the investigation.
The day before, a source from Izvestia reported an attempted abduction of football player Mostovoy and the son-in-law of State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Makarov, businessman Sergei Selegen.
