The premiere of the series "Ena, Queen of Spain" starts on viju
The new historical series "Ena, Queen of Spain" will show the life of her Majesty without gloss. From November 1, the film will exclusively launch on the viju streaming service, and on November 17, the TV premiere will take place on viju + Serial.
The main character is British Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg, who is simply Ena to her family. For the sake of love and the crown of Spain, she abandoned her family, homeland, and even her faith. But her fairy tale ended abruptly on her wedding day. During the celebration, a terrorist attack occurred, and from that moment on, Ena's life turned into a series of trials. The coldness of her husband, the hostility of her mother-in-law, the distrust of her subjects, and the illnesses of her children. Nevertheless, Ena did not break down and devoted herself to charity – she helped the poor, participated in the reconstruction of the Spanish Red Cross, created a school for nurses and the League against Cancer. She turned into a woman who was ahead of her time and inscribed her name in the history of Spain.
The role of Victoria Eugenia was played by Kimberly Tell, the star of the TV series "Hierro". The actress was able to truly live out the role, because she herself turned out to be a foreigner in another culture. King Alfonso XIII was played by the popular Spanish actor Joan Amargos ("Manticore"). The film also starred Elvira Minges ("Truman"), Lucia Guerrero ("Investigations in Majorca"), Raul Merida ("Protected") and other prominent actors.
The script is based on a novel by Spanish writer and journalist Pilar Eyre. She showed Ena without pathos – alive and vulnerable, but at the same time passionate and strong. This is a woman whose life has become a drama, not a fairy tale story with a prince on a white horse. Javier Olivares, who worked on the iconic "Ministry of Time", took over the adaptation of the script. The director's chair was shared by Anais Pareto Ongen ("Ministry of Time") and Estelle Diaz ("Red Flags").
The creators of the series were able to turn historical facts into an emotional, exciting movie. Even the costumes here are real works of art. All the outfits are sewn with jewelry precision and convey the spirit of that era.
Filming took place in authentic historical locations: the Royal Palace of Madrid, the palaces of La Granja, Santonha, La Magdalena, as well as in the labyrinth of Villapresente and the old quarters of Madrid.
