The Russian Ministry of Health has proposed to introduce mandatory non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) for all pregnant women. This became known on October 26 from the draft of the new pregnancy management procedure.

According to Kommersant, the appropriate analysis will make it possible to detect chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus from the mother's blood without invasive interventions.

In addition, according to experts, the test will become part of the new clinical guidelines, which also include mandatory psychological counseling and clear deadlines for registration.

On October 24, at the first meeting of the Council for the Implementation of State Demographic and Family Policy, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that it was necessary to think about improving maternity capital. The Head of State added that, first of all, it is necessary to protect the interests of children and women.
