Peskov: negotiations with Ukraine are not continuing because of Kiev's position
The Russian side cannot assess the prospect of resuming the negotiation process on a peaceful settlement in Ukraine, as it is being delayed by Ukraine. This was announced on October 28 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"So far, we are unable to assess the prospects for resuming the negotiation process, because, as we have repeatedly said, the pause was caused by the unwillingness of the Kiev regime to continue this negotiation process," the press secretary of the Russian president explained at a briefing.
He added that representatives of the Kiev regime did not want to answer Moscow's questions, as well as consider draft documents that Russia had submitted to them. In addition, there is no reaction to offers for further work in various groups.
"All this has been left unanswered," Peskov stated.
According to the presidential press secretary, the Kiev regime can prolong the current conflict by continuing to demand money from the European Union (EU) for this.
On October 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Putin, taking part in the Russian-American summit in Alaska in August, confirmed Moscow's readiness to work on resolving the conflict in Ukraine based on the concept proposed by the United States. In September, during Lavrov's visit to New York, he reminded Secretary of State Marco Rubio of these events and agreements and received a reply that the United States remembers them and discussions are underway. The Foreign Minister noted that the Ukrainian conflict is solvable.
On October 22, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that his state was ready for a diplomatic settlement of the conflict, but it was not ready to make concessions to its territory. Kiev, according to the Ukrainian leader, will not accept this compromise.
