During the talks, Russia and Cambodia touched upon the creation of a free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). This was announced to Izvestia on October 28 by Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko.

"They have long shown interest in this topic (the creation of a free trade area with the EAEU — Ed.). During today's consultations, we reminded them of their interest. If they show any desire, we will consider it," Rudenko said.

Meanwhile, Cambodia's accession to BRICS was not discussed in Kuala Lumpur, the diplomat said.

A Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk held talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in Kuala Lumpur on October 28.

On September 26, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Cambodian counterpart Prak Sokhon discussed the development of bilateral relations between the two countries. During the meeting, the sides exchanged positions on current international issues, as well as the regional agenda.
