- Four ex-traffic police officers of Primorye convicted of accepting bribes when issuing licenses
Four ex-employees of the Primorye traffic police were convicted by the Vladivostok district court for repeatedly accepting bribes during the driver's license exam. This was announced on October 28 by the Main Directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Primorsky Territory.
"The court found that the convicts were part of a criminal group created by Oleg Zubakin, head of the UGIBDD of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Primorsky Territory, to systematically receive bribes from persons interested in successfully passing exams for the right to drive vehicles," the department's Telegram channel said.
It is noted that the amount of bribes ranged from 25 to 150 thousand rubles, depending on the type of exam.
A criminal case was opened on this fact under paragraph "a" of Part 5 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Receiving bribes in a significant amount committed by an organized group"), according to which the accused received a sentence of imprisonment from 5.5 to 10 years, as well as a fine of 350 thousand rubles to 5 million rubles.. At the moment, the verdict has not yet entered into force.
Earlier, on June 27, a former employee of the registration and examination department (REO) of the traffic police was convicted in the Irkutsk region for 55 episodes of receiving bribes in excess of 2 million rubles as part of an organized group. According to the investigation, the defendant, holding the position of a senior inspector, facilitated the illegal passing of theoretical and practical exams for obtaining the right to drive a motor vehicle.
