During the liberation of the settlement of Novonikolaevka in the Zaporizhia region, Russian military personnel of the Vostok group of forces secretly approached enemy positions and destroyed the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), catching them off guard during a tea party. This was announced on October 28 by the squad commander with the call sign Baha.
"We came close to the enemy, even going so far as to enter their dugout. They just sit and drink tea — just a couple of minutes of misunderstanding, and that's it. At that time, there were about 13 of us against them," the commander told RIA Novosti.
According to him, the enemy had an extensive network of strongholds and dugouts, some of which the fighters managed to clear out silently.
"It was early in the morning, and the enemy was asleep. Someone was captured, someone did not want to surrender," he added.
Earlier, on October 27, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that some Ukrainian soldiers had laid down their weapons and surrendered after reading leaflets dropped on their positions calling for an end to resistance. It happened on the front line in the Kharkiv region in front of the village of Tikhoe. According to the ministry, the soldiers of the 136th Guards separate motorized rifle brigade of the North group of forces liberated the settlement, showing courage and bravery.
