The fighters of the Vostok group told about the battle in the Zaporozhye region
The guards scouts of the Vostok group of forces told the details of the liberation of the settlement of Novonikolayevka in the Zaporozhye region. According to the Ministry of Defense, the fighters crossed the Yanchur River and stormed the enemy's fortified area located on both banks, it was reported on October 28.
During the battle, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) actively used FPV drones, mortars and artillery, but the Vostok units managed to break through and establish control over the settlement.
"The path was not easy — the enemy used drones and artillery, burned down forest belts to keep us away. But the task was set, and it was completed," said the group commander with the call sign Yaga.
According to him, during the cleansing of the territory, the fighters encountered foreign mercenaries. The deputy commander noted that some of them preferred to surrender, and a foreign speech was heard on the radio.
As a result of the assault, the units took control of an area of more than 3 square kilometers and cleared over 350 buildings. Now the Russian military continues to expand its foothold on the western bank of the Yanchur.
Earlier, on October 27, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian troops had liberated Novonikolayevka and Privolnoye in the Zaporizhia region, as well as Egorovka in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Vostok units also defeated the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of Poltava, Malinovka and other settlements.
