Textron, a company from the USA, proposed using Wolverines to combat UAVs.
The American company Textron has proposed using AT-6 Wolverine turboprop attack aircraft ("Wolverine") as a means of combating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). This was announced on October 27 by the Army Recognition portal.
"On the company's channels, Textron outlined a proposal positioning the AT-6 Wolverine as a multi-purpose response to the growing number of drones and low—intensity aerial threats," the publication said.
It is noted that due to its versatility, the AT-6 Wolverine can perform anti-UAV tasks, light patrolling of the air defense forces, direct air support and other tasks. These attack aircraft can be used where other jet fighters are impractical or uneconomical.
"In terms of employment, the Wolverine's rigorous performance and low maintenance costs are central to the proposed concept of UAV patrolling and light air defense," the portal added.
Earlier, on October 15, it was reported that the European Union (EU) plans to launch joint projects on drones and air defense in the coming months as part of an ambitious five-year rearmament plan. As part of a new initiative, the European Commission (EC) is proposing to review the military planning and procurement system.
