The government will consider a bill on a new procedure for providing military housing

The Russian government has submitted to the State Duma a bill clarifying the procedure for providing housing for military personnel. The document, posted on October 27 in the Duma database, provides for amendments to the law "On the status of military personnel."

As explained in the note to the draft, the amendments were prepared in compliance with the ruling of the Constitutional Court and are aimed at eliminating uncertainty in the housing rights of the military.

According to the initiative, military personnel will be able to receive housing or funds for its purchase and construction once, except in cases of improved living conditions. At the same time, previously obtained housing as a family member of another serviceman will not be grounds for refusing recognition as needy.

"It is proposed to clarify the procedure for improving housing conditions, for example, when marrying, giving birth or adopting children. These measures are aimed at strengthening the institution of the family and increasing the attractiveness of military service," the explanatory note says.

In addition, it is proposed to establish a single accounting standard for the area of housing — 15 square meters. m per person. Currently, this indicator is determined by local governments and may vary depending on the region. A unified approach, the document says, will ensure equal opportunities for all military personnel.

Earlier, on October 26, Vladimir Koshelev, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services, said that Russians who are recognized as needing better housing conditions can receive a state subsidy for housing purchase once in their lives. Its size depends on the benefit category and can reach up to 70% of the apartment price. Military personnel with long service experience and families of deceased military personnel can count on maximum payments.
