A resident of the Belgorod region was sentenced for a fatal road accident near Tula

A court in the Tula region has issued a verdict in the case of an accident involving a Gazelle van, as a result of which one person was killed and two injured. This is reported by the regional prosecutor's office.

The accident occurred on January 9, 2025, on the M-2 "Crimea" highway in the Plavsky district. It was established that a 40-year-old resident of the Belgorod region, driving a VAZ-2114, violated traffic rules and collided with a Gazelle van. Due to the impact, GAZ drove into the oncoming lane and crashed into a Toyota Camry.

According to TSN24, at the time of the accident, the fourteenth was towing another car. The driver lost control.

As a result of the collision, the 45-year-old Toyota driver died on the spot. The driver of the Gazelle and the passenger of the VAZA were hospitalized with injuries.

The court found the VAZ driver guilty under Part 3 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Violation of traffic rules that negligently caused the death of a person" and sentenced him to three years in prison to be served in a penal colony. He is banned from driving for the next two years and ten months. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

In September, it was reported that a court in St. Petersburg had sentenced a truck driver who caused the death of a minibus passenger in an accident and seriously injured his driver. The truck crashed into a guardrail, crossed the roadway of Krasnoflotskoye highway, then drove onto the exit from the ring road and collided with a Volkswagen Caravelle minibus. From the last blow, the dump truck tipped over right on top of the Volkswagen.
