In an interview with Radio 1 on Monday, October 27, the expert noted that meningococcal infection is not just a disease, but a real nightmare for pediatricians, especially when it comes to unvaccinated children.
She explained that at the beginning, the disease looks like a common viral infection — the flu or SARS, and by the time the diagnosis becomes obvious, it is often too late. She also noted that the infection is manifested by a rash.
According to her, the danger of the disease is that the characteristic symptoms appear at a late stage, and many people may be carriers of the bacterium without even knowing about it.
