Anastasia Cardiakos, a family psychologist and psychotherapist, spoke about a technique that helps to cope with anxiety and strong emotions.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Monday, October 27, the expert advised using rapid self-regulation techniques, such as the "5-4-3-2-1" method. When using it, you need to mentally name five objects that you see, four tactile sensations, three sounds, two smells and one taste. This method helps to bring attention back to the present moment.

She noted that this technique is effective for reducing anxiety and allows you to quickly move from a tense state to a more calm and stable one.

On October 9, Pavel Zhavnerov, a psychologist on anxiety disorders, told NSN when it was time to deal with excessive emotionality. According to him, if negative emotions appear more than five times during the day, this is a reason to start working on reducing emotionality.

On October 8, psychologist and neuropsychologist Maria Todorova told Izvestia about the effects of emotions and sleep on long-term memory. According to her, memory is not a storage, but a controlled system of the brain.

In September, Natalya Stepanenko, a neurologist and pediatric neurologist, told RIAMO how to help a child cope with anxiety. According to her, the child should find a trusted adult — not necessarily a parent, it can be a teacher, psychologist or an older relative. It's important to show that his feelings are normal. Clubs, psychological groups, and reading together can help you cope with your fears.

Earlier, Irina Shoshina, a professor at the St. Petersburg State University Institute of Cognitive Research, Doctor of Biological Sciences, told RT that feelings of uncontrollable anxiety are associated with a sharp release of dopamine in the median structures of the brain stem. The neuroscientist advised not to dwell on unpleasant sensations. She recommended wearing an elastic band on her wrist and snapping it during an attack to distract herself and ease the condition, notes 360.ru .
