The RFU commented on the data on the Russian Federation's bid to host Euro 2032 instead of Italy.

The Russian Football Union (RFU) confirmed the data of the British tabloid Daily Mail that Russia has applied to host Euro 2032 to replace Italy. As Izvestia was informed on October 27, such an application was submitted back in 2022, so the publication is not a sensation.

"We officially submitted the application for Euro 2032 back in 2022. That's when everyone wrote about it. There has been nothing new since then. Just the Daily Mail, apparently based on the words of [RFU head Alexander] Dyukova a couple of days ago, we decided to present our news in this way," the press service said.

The Daily Mail newspaper previously reported that Russia had "submitted a bold bid" to replace Italy as the host of the Euro 2032 tournament.

"The tournament, which will take place in seven years, will be jointly organized by Italy and Turkey, but there are concerns that Italian stadiums will not be ready due to problems with outdated infrastructure," the newspaper noted.

Dyukov in a comment to the website Sport.ru On October 25, he confirmed that Russia is ready to host Euro 2032 instead of Italy in case the country has problems organizing such a major tournament. Alexander Ceferin, President of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), admitted in an interview with Western media that the situation with stadiums in Italy is really difficult, and only one of the 10 declared venues meets the criteria for hosting the tournament.

In July, UEFA announced that the Italian Football Federation (IFF) and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) had asked to combine their bids to host the 2032 European Championship. Five associations have also submitted a joint bid to host Euro 2028: England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
