A local resident suspected of murder committed 20 years ago has been detained in the Rostov region. This was announced on October 27 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.

According to the investigation, in December 2004, the attacker met a girl on a Volgodonsk street and invited her to sit in a gazebo on the territory of a kindergarten. There he committed violent acts on a new girlfriend, after which he strangled and stole personal belongings. Among the stolen items are winter boots, silver earrings, apartment keys and 50 rubles.

It was not possible to apprehend the criminal in hot pursuit. A criminal case was opened under Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Murder").

"As a result of the work on solving crimes of previous years, the police, with the forceful support of the Rosgvardiya staff, detained the suspect. It has been established that he has been repeatedly convicted of theft, robbery and robberies," Volk said on the Telegram channel.

The defendant has been charged and taken into custody.

Prior to that, on October 10, investigators from the territorial investigation department of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Moscow Region detained the killer and his accomplice for the murder of Vadim Menis, director of Lyceum No. 10 named after Yuri Gagarin, in 2002. Employees of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia managed to obtain information and evidence of the involvement of two men in the crime 23 years later.
