The State Duma does not discuss the initiative on early retirement for fathers

The initiative on early retirement for fathers with many children, proposed by the Commissioner for Children's Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, is currently not being discussed. Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, told Izvestia on October 27.

"Unfortunately, there is no such initiative. If we are talking about equal rights with mothers, then fathers with many children do not participate directly in the process of childbirth, namely in carrying a child," said the deputy.

According to Bessarab, this is due to the physiological stress that the mother's body is experiencing, which is also reflected in the legislation.

On the same day, Lvova-Belova proposed to provide for the possibility of early retirement for fathers with many children. However, she did not name specific figures by which the retirement age for fathers with many children should be lowered.
